Loughside Festival of Football

At Loughside we feel that the kids need a well deserved end-of-season treat for all the hard work and commitment they have put in throughout the season with their respective clubs, and to this end we decided to have an annual Festival of Football. Our Festival is all about the kids having fun with a little bit of competition thrown in. Although all the winning teams receive a Team Trophy, every child taking part receives the exact same medal for participating in this friendly tournament.

We held our 9th annual Festival of Football on Saturday 10th May 2008 at Loughside Recreation Centre. It was very well attended and we thank all the teams and members of the public who turned up.
Some teams have been to our previous festivals but we had some for the very first time and we hope they all enjoyed it as much as we did and will visit us again in future festivals and tounaments.

We all had a great time and the weather stayed sunny and hot right up to the very last match. We had a burger stand and hot and cold drinks being served all day. This year we had bouncy castles for the smaller children visiting with families and we hope to have even more activities in future Festivals starting with a two day event next year.

Congratulations are due to our Under 17's for winning the Ards Borough Council Development League and our Under 9's who were joint winners with Ards Youth of the George Best League's Shield and they also had the League's top goalscorer with Luke Fenton receiving his trophy for scoring 39 goals. WELL DONE AND KEEP IT UP.
