MINI SOCCER SCHOOL

Over the past ten weeks the mini-soccer school has been running every Sunday from 12pm to 1.30pm at Loughside where the children, both boys and girls, have been getting coaching and playing football.  Some for the very first time.  We also played some small sided games against other mini-soccer schools over the weeks.
The mini-soccer school was to finish on Sunday 20th April, but due to it's success we will be keeping it going one night a week throughout the summer.  The dates, day, and time are as follows:
YEAR OF BIRTH DAY TIMES VENUE START DATE
1999 to 2003 Wednesday 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm Loughside 7th May 2008
1998 Monday 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm Loughside 12th May 2008
1997 Sunday 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm Grove Park 18th May 2008

MINI SOCCER SCHOOL TRIP TO LARNE

On Sunday 6th April the 5 to 9 year olds were invited down to Larne to play in some friendly games.  We booked a couple of buses and some parents took their cars down.  Even though it was a cold windy day everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  The children had lots of fun and enjoyment and were singing plenty on the way home on the buses.

Stroke Awareness Week commences on 17th September until 21st September inclusive and during that span of time it is the intention of NICHS to raise the profile and the awareness of the impact of stroke on the individual and their family.  The theme this year is "exercise and engaging with young school children" encouraging them to become involved in exercise.  Lack of exercise is considered one of the risk factors for stroke and heart attacks.

Loughside and St. Oliver Plunkett ( who have benefitted from new footballs during the summer months supported by NICHS) played a match in support of NICHS on 10th September @ Grove Playing Fields, with St. Oliver Plunkett winning 6 - 0.  Well done to St. Oliver Plunkett.
The teams will receive their trophy from the match on Tuesday 20th September at Inst. Football Association Headquarters @ 1:30pm.  The trophy will be presented by the IFA President Mr Raymond Kennedy.
There will be a photo call and team photography taken which will be available to schools to encourage all children to participate in activity/exercise.

There was also a chance to have your blood pressure checked which one of our parents, Thomas Moore, took the opportunity to try.

I think you can see by the look of relief on his face that everything turned out ok.

NEURO-SEMANTICS TRAINING

On Sunday 12th February at our club seminar at the Dunadry Hotel, Loughside tried a new process called Neuro-semantics.  The training session was facilitated by Davy White of Concept 11 and involved thinking about your club using your five senses to discover new ways and ideas to improve the club. We found this very informative and helpful and would definitely recommend this process to anyone looking to improve their club as a whole.

Anyone interested in more information about the above process can contact

david@concept11.co.uk

or

philip.mccann@loughsidefc.co.uk

David explains the concept of Neuro-Semantics and how it benefits the running of the club.

One of our groups of coaches participating in the training.

The coaches use their new training to give a presentation.

David listens to the feedback and gives an overview of the whole session.

Loughside 3

Hillsborough 2

Congratulations go to Loughside Under 12's after winning the Lisburn Shield to finish 2005.

Both teams started off brightly and had early chances to score. Loughside took the lead when Darren Bell played Jordan Montgomery in on goal and he slotted the ball past the Hillsborough goalkeeper. Darren Bell increased Loughside’s lead with a well-taken goal after a good pass from Jordan McDonald. Hillsborough had some good chances to score, but two great saves from Loughside’s man of the match Ross Hunter and a post prevented this.

Hillsborough started the second half strongly and pulled a goal back five minutes into the second half. Loughside made it 3-1 after a Matthew Gordon pass found William Bingham who ran through the Hillsborough defence and placed his shot under the goalkeeper and into the net. Hillsborough pulled a goal back to make the final score 3-2 to Loughside. A great win for Loughside against a very good Hillsborough team. Well done to the under 12’s from all at Loughside.

UPDATED TRAINING NEWS FOR UNDER 8'S

The Under 8's training will be at Loughside on the small pitch at the car park for the next four weeks starting Wednesday 20th April from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.  I have organised two coaches from "Sport For All" to take four one hour sessions on multiskills and games.  Their Loughside coaches will still oversee these sessions.

I apologise for any inconvenience but I think the children will really enjoy these sessions and they will also help in their development.

P.McCann (Joe).

7/4/05

U/8s TRAINING NOW TAKES PLACE IN GROVE PARK ON WED NIGHTS AT 6PM TO 7PM.

We apologise to all the children and parents who showed up at Loughside for the Under 8 training on Wednesday night as they didn't know the location had changed.  The children at the previous weeks training were told of the change and the word obviously didn't reach the ones who weren't there.  In future any changes to training arrangements will be posted here in the news page and a notice will be posted on the main page.

UNDER 12'S WIN LEAGUE !!!

Congratulations go to our under 12 team who were crowned league champions on saturday with an emphatic 4-0 win over Carniny at the shore road playing fields.

Anyone with pictures of saturdays match or celebrations please email to website or pass on to coach so we can publish them.

Important dates LOUGHSIDE FESTIVAL.

This years Loughside Festival will take place over Fri 6th and Sat 7th of May at Seaview Football Ground.  With 2 matches taking place on the Friday night and 6 on Saturday.  Matches are still to be arranged and will be posted here as soon as we get them.

PRESENTATION DAY

Our Presentation day this year will be on Sat 28th May at Crusaders Social Club.  This year, due to high membership in the club, there will be two presentations.  Under 9, 11, 13, 15 will take place from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm. Under 10, 12, and both 14 teams will take place from 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm.  Admission will be by ticket only.

AGM

Our AGM will take place on Monday 30th May.  Anyone wishing to stand for committee or who have anything they want put on the agenda for discussion, must have it submitted to Jim Murray before or on April 23rd.  Anything after that date will not be accepted or discussed.

ANNIVERSARY DINNER

As most people know, the club is ten years old this year.  The committee will be organising a tenth anniversary dinner dance for later on this year.  We hope to have after dinner speakers and a live band.  More details to follow.

Supporters Club We have been contacted by a number of parents enquiring about starting a Loughside supporters club, with the purpose of supporting and helping to develop the club in any way they can.  The committee have looked into this and think it is a very good idea.  The supporters club would have to be set up in a proper manner by having their own committee, constitution, child protection policies etc, etc.  A committee member will work in conjunction with the supporters club.

We will be sending out letters to all parents and arranging a meeting with those who are seriously interested, and giving a presentation explaining just exactly what this would entail.
