LOUGHSIDE IN THE COMMUNITY

Loughside Football Club
 Multi Sports Festival at Halloween
in conjunction with Belfast City Council.

Our Multi-sports festival was held at Loughside Recreation Centre during the Halloween week between Monday 27th of October finishing on Friday 31st October. We had over 60 young people there every day being coached by qualified coaches and taking part in all different sports over the week.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Belfast City Council as without the funding from the Community Festivals Fund this would have not been possible to run and the young people would not have had so much enjoyment.

Individual trophy winners for exceptional participation.

We would also like to inform you that there will be a three day festival over the Christmas holiday period.  Details to follow soon.

Loughside Football Club
Multi Sports Camp at Halloween
in conjunction with P.S.N.I

A multi sports camp was held from Monday 29th Oct  to Friday 2nd Nov 2007 in conjunction with the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

This programme was targeted at children in the Lower North Belfast area and surrounding districts to make them aware of what drugs, alcohol and substance abuse can do to them by using sports as a tool to get the message across. Also to emphasize the danger and the damage it can do if they are looking to make it big in their relevant sport or if they would like a sports orientated occupation.

The children where coached in Football, Basketball and Tag-rugby over the week by qualified coaches while at the same time attending a class presented by the PSNI. On the Friday each child participated in a football tournament, a basketball tournament and a Tag-Rugby tournament where every child that participated received a medal and the winning teams at each sport received certificates.

This was totally funded by the PSNI and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them and especially Brian Caskey and  Stewart Jones.

We think Stewart really enjoyed himself over the week by Joining in all the games and presenting the medals and certificates at the end of the week.
