History
LOUGHSIDE BOYS was founded in 1995 by Lawrence Wasson who started with One team competing in the Down and Connor League. Since then we have grown into one of the largest youth football club's in Northern Ireland.
Our Under 9 team competes in the Castlereagh youth League, with the Under 10's through to Under 16's competing in the Lisburn Invitational youth league.
With the influx of girls joining the club we have formed 2 girls teams at Under 12, and Under 14 who compete in a NI girls league. Due to this Loughside Boys F.C have dropped the boys from their name and as from 2003 the club has been called LOUGHSIDE FOOTBALL CLUB.
LEASE MANAGEMENT On 22 August 2004 Loughside FC entered into a partnership with Belfast City Council in request of the Playing fields at Loughside Leisure Centre, Shore Rd, Belfast.
This arrangement means Loughside FC manage all booking and hire of these pitches and are responsible for all general duties involved with the pitches i.e. erecting of nets, corner flags, marking of pitches, removal of litter, inspection of pitches before and after the game, and the general tidiness of the pitch and changing room facilities.
This arrangement is a 3 years lease with a 2 year extended option, which can be further extended with the agreement of both parties, this will provide the Loughside FC teams with home pitches on a Saturday morning and secure training facilities during the week.
Senior teams from North Belfast have already taken up the option with the club to book a pitch on Saturday afternoon as a home pitch i.e. Roof top (Amateur League) and 102nd Old Boys (old boys league) as well as Crusaders Youth (16's and 18's) booking pitches for training facilities during the week.
Loughside FC hope that this arrangement with Belfast City Council will hopefully enable our club to maintain and increase the numbers of young people participating in youth football in North Belfast. We also hope it will enable our club to grow and develop to Senior teams and thus increasing the number of the young people of North Belfast given the opportunity to progress to Senior Football.
