EASTER MULTI-SPORTS CAMP Funded by THE HEDLEY FOUNDATION
Loughside held it's Easter Multi-Sports Camp this year at Loughside Recreational Centre and thanks to The Hedley Foundation was a great success. We had over sixty young people taking part from all the different backgrounds in North Belfast and some new friendships were formed over the three days which we hope to nurture.
Using qualified coaches the young people were coached in soccer, tag-rugby, wrestling, and basketball. There was also a daily session on Healthy Eating and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle starting from an early age. The camp ended on the third day with small friendly tournaments in each sport where you could see the young people putting their newly found skills into practice.

Loughside held the first part of a drugs awareness course, Funded by LCAP, on Monday 15th Feb,
at Brantwood Footbal Club. The course was taken by Diane McMullin from FASA and was attended by coaches and club members.
The course is only one of a number of different courses available and is designed to raise awareness on the dangers and consequences of Alcohol and Substance abuse and to highlight the signals given out by someone unfortunate enough to be caught up in it
The awareness course lasts for two sessions of three hours and continued the following Monday night, 22nd Feb, at Brantwood. It was a very interesting and informative course and really made you think harder and differently to what you thought you knew beforehand.

About FASA
FASA is a Community based professional organisation providing services for those directly or indirectly affected by Substance Misuse or Suicide/Self Harm. Formed in 1995 by local parents in the Greater Shankill area, FASA has developed a range of services designed to cater to geographical and thematic areas of need.
FASA has a number of key centres where anyone is welcome to call in and access information and resources. These include: access to services, advice, books, leaflets, posters etc. FASA has designed innovative literature which again has been developed by “young people for “young people” to provide accurate information about a wide range of drugs.
Unfortunately there isn't enough room here to highlight all the help and advice available from fasa so we would recommend you visit their website http://www.fasaonline.org/index.htm for more information or you can enquire from any coaches or here via the contacts page and we will give you contact numbers etc,.
